Book
Biography of Ty Cobb Well-rounded biography of the baseball legend, the first player inducted into the Hall of fame. Good coverage of his tragic early life. Personally, I see Ty as the first "modern" sportsman. His "take no prisoners approach," grounded in a desire to win and make winning pay, blew away the artifice of gentlemen players trying to pretend money had nothing to do with professional sports.

Book
Cybergrace CyberGrace: The Search for God in the Digital World is a very interesting recent book by an very experienced information technology consultant who went back to school to get a degree in theology. Here is a quote: "Nature has spawned us. We have spawned machines. Any line between these realms quickly becomes arbitrary." Influenced by the thought of Teilhard De Chardin (see next book).
Ursula King

Book
Spirit of Fire Spirit of Fire: The Life and Vision of Teilhard De Chardin is not directly Cobb-related, but it is the best book that you can buy about this amazing man. Written by Dr. Ursula King, who was my tutor in the department of Religion at Leeds University, this award-winning book is both scholarly and engaging. Teilhard De Chardin's thought has influenced both me, and Jennifer Cobb (see previous book).

Book
Beyond Dialogue Beyond Dialogue - Toward a Mutual Transformation of Christianity and Buddhism is one of many books by protestant theologian John B. Cobb. This one is of particular interest to me because I was raised in a protestant church but spent many years studying Buddhism (see previous book).

James H. Cobb

Book
Choosers of the Slain Choosers of the Slain is the excellent first novel by James H. Cobb. Set in the near future, it introduces a new generation of stealth warship, and a new breed of naval commander, Amanda Lee Garrett. If you like writers such as Tom Clancy and Dale Brown, you'll love James Cobb's fast-paced writing and firm grasp of hi-tech warfare in the post-Cold War era.

Book
Sea Strike Sea Strike is the second novel by James H. Cobb. Like Choosers of the Slain, it features stealth warships and hi-tech warfare in the post-Cold War era. Female naval commander Amanda Lee Garrett is also on board! The link on the left is to the hardback. Here is the paperback link.
Tommy Lee Jones

Video
Cobb: the Movie The controversial portrayal of Ty Cobb's last days, powerfully acted by Tommy Lee Jones. There is little doubt that Ty Cobb could be a very unpleasant person and it is a pity he did not rise above the pervasive racism of the society in which he was raised. However, his achievements in baseball remain unparalleled, even by some modern players who have clearly taken a chemical path to fame and fortune.
